Beeper Mini, a chat app that reverse-engineered iMessage for Android, is currently experiencing issues. 9to5Google reported that the entire Beeper platform is broken, prompting speculation that Apple has intervened. Beeper posted on X that they are “investigating reports that sending/receiving is not working in Beeper Mini.” Engadget reached out to Beeper to inquire about the potential outage triggered by Apple, but there is no direct evidence at this stage to suggest it. Beeper’s solution, developed by a 16-year-old high school student, previously appeared to work well by automatically scanning iMessage messages and changing them to blue bubbles while including end-to-end encryption between iPhones and Android phones. The app’s co-founder described it as a “scale-up” and the original Beeper relied on a Mac mini server farm to relay chats through Appleās system. The future of Beeper Mini is uncertain as they continue to investigate the issues.
