Tesla, led by Elon Musk, has been accused of blaming customers for part failures, charging them for repairs that should be covered by the company. It is suggested that the company has a habit of denying or partially admitting to problems with their vehicles. For instance, multiple instances were reported where Tesla claimed that parts failures were due to driver abuse, leaving the owners to cover the costs. Surgeon Trace Curry paid thousands of dollars for repairs to his 2016 Tesla Model X, after replacing several parts twice. Meanwhile, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been investigating Tesla since 2020 for various part failures in multiple models. The investigation would be of interest to Tesla owners who have had to pay for repairs that should have been covered.
