Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren has raised concerns about Meta’s handling of content during the Israel-Hamas war. In a letter to Mark Zuckerberg, Warren asks for more information about Meta’s moderation policies and the amount of content removed related to the conflict. She cites reports of inconsistencies in Meta’s moderation practices and accuses the company of suppressing Palestinian voices. The letter requests detailed information about the number of removed posts and how Meta is enforcing its policies in the context of the war. A January 5 deadline is given to Zuckerberg for a response. Meta has faced scrutiny for its moderation practices and has blamed some issues on technical glitches. The Oversight Board is also reviewing two cases related to Israel-Hamas war content and expediting its process due to a surge in appeals since the conflict began.
