Apple’s tvOS 17 update has led to big-name VPN providers quickly releasing their apps for the platform. ExpressVPN and NordVPN both now have apps available for download. The NordVPN app is compatible with existing subscriptions and is easy to set up. The app encrypts all network traffic and uses NordLynx protocol to optimize streaming. NordVPN’s initial doubts about the limitations of native VPNs on tvOS 17 seem to have been resolved.
Having a dedicated VPN on your Apple streaming box can be useful for customizing settings and bypassing geographic restrictions while traveling. Before tvOS 17, configuring a VPN on these devices was complicated, so the addition of native VPN support is a welcome development. In addition to NordVPN, there are other VPNs available on the Apple TV App Store, including ExpressVPN and PureVPN.
While the NordVPN app is now available for download, Apple has also released a new update for tvOS 17, featuring a redesigned interface and the ability to answer FaceTime calls directly from the TV.
