Riot Games has dropped a new teaser trailer for the highly-anticipated second season of the show Arcane, set to come to Netflix in November. The show is centered around the rivalry and relationship between sisters Vi and Jinx, who find themselves on opposing sides in the conflict between the utopian Piltover and the oppressed Zaun. The latest teaser introduces Warwick, a human-turned-werewolf, and the mad chemist Singed, the creator of Shimmer, a central element in the show’s story. Season two is expected to deliver the same fantasy action that made the first season a success. It’s a teaser trailer, so it’s heavy on atmosphere and light on details.
In addition to the new Arcane trailer, Riot has made other announcements for the upcoming 2024 season of League of Legends. One major announcement is the introduction of Vanguard in League, aimed at combatting bots, disruptive smurf accounts, and scripting. Vanguard was first seen in Valorant and was controversial due to its access to the core of a player’s computer. However, Riot’s decision to bring it to League suggests its effectiveness at keeping cheaters out. Vanguard will allow Riot to terminate live matches and refund LP to players who have encountered cheaters and bots.
Riot is also adjusting the game’s Ranked system and skill evaluation to reduce matchups between players of different ranks, leading to fewer smurf accounts and more enjoyable games.
