Introducing ‘Tags’ on Threads for Categorizing Posts

Meta’s Threads platform is now testing a new feature in Australia: tags. Mark Zuckerberg recently announced that this feature will be coming to more countries soon. Users can create tags by adding a hash before a word, which then appears in blue text without the hash. To find posts on specific topics, users can type a hash plus a keyword into the search field. Currently, only one tag per post is allowed to prevent hashtag spamming, but this may change as the feature is still a work in progress.

Despite not being available in Europe yet, Threads has seen consistent growth and now has nearly 100 million monthly active users, according to Zuckerberg. The app has recently added features such as the ability to delete Threads profiles without affecting Instagram accounts, the option to avoid automatically sharing Threads posts on Facebook and Instagram, and the ability to pin posts. Additionally, there have been hints from Instagram boss Adam Mosseri about the possibility of direct messages being handled through Instagram’s inbox.
