Sam Altman in Discussions with OpenAI Board for Potential Comeback

Former CEO Sam Altman might return to OpenAI
There are chances he might return to OpenAI as the board has reopened discussions with him. Microsoft is set to match the compensation of OpenAI workers if they choose to leave the company. Kevin Scott has confirmed that Microsoft is willing to hire OpenAI workers. Salesforce CEO has also offered to match salary and equity for any OpenAI researcher who joins his company. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella expressed that he wants to keep working with OpenAI and implied that the company is open to bringing OpenAI workers on board. The OpenAI board declined to share the exact reasoning for its decision to fire Altman. The board has appointed former Twitch chief executive Emmett Shear as interim CEO. Shear intends to bring in an independent investigator “to dig into the entire process leading up to this point and generate a full report.” If he doesn’t get a clear explanation from the board as to why it ousted Altman, Shear has hinted that he won’t stay on board.
