Use Google’s AI-Powered Search Tool for Effortless Holiday Shopping

Google Announces Upgrades to Search Generative Experience for Holiday Shopping

In May, Google introduced the Search Generative Experience (SGE) for holiday shopping. Google has developed a ginormous AI-powered search bot that’s adept at producing gift ideas, photorealistic images of product types and virtual try-ons of men’s tops. Google’s SGE has also expanded the options available to users. To use Google SGE, users are required to have Google Chrome on their desktop, or the Google mobile app installed on their smartphones.

Google states that one out of every five apparel searches is five words or longer, suggesting people often engage in tedious searching when shopping for fashion products. SGE can now produce “photorealistic images” of the item you need, refining the image in real time and then displaying similar shoppable products.

The company encourages users to refine their queries to be extremely specific, showing examples like gifts for home cooks who love Italian food or gift ideas for a seven-year-old aspiring inventor. Google announced that it has expanded its virtual try-on offerings for men’s tops today. If you search for men’s or women’s tops from a supported brand, you will see 40 virtual models representing different shapes, sizes, heights and skin tones. You can then choose the one that looks closest to you or the person you’re shopping for to get an AI-powered view of how the product may look on them. Supported labels at launch include Abercrombie & Fitch, Banana Republic, JCrew and Under Armour.

To try SGE, users need to activate SGE for their account by visiting the Search Labs page or by tapping the beaker icon on the upper left within the Google app.
