Google is phasing out the Play Movies & TV brand and services, with final preparations for its discontinuation in January. According to The Verge, detailed instructions have been released for long-time customers to continue accessing their purchased content. Access will depend on the viewer’s device, with access to purchased movies and shows available on Android TV devices and streaming devices under the Shop tab in Google Play. Access via Android TV cable or set-top boxes will be through the YouTube app, where viewers can also continue to make new purchases. Viewers using browsers will need to visit the YouTube website to see their purchases and make new ones. These changes are underway and have already begun rolling out, with old movie buys visible on the YouTube website.
