The Video Game History Foundation has a massive collection of gaming-related archival materials, but soon you won’t have to travel to Oakland, California to access it. The organization is launching a library that will offer remote access to researchers, academics, and gaming enthusiasts. The library will eventually digitize the entire archive but this will take time. The organization has been working on this for two years and is expected to launch the library next year. The collection includes print magazines, design documents, audio assets, press materials, concept art, and more, and is an essential tool for preserving the legacy of gaming for future generations. The organization also works on restoring media materials from various companies and is an advocacy group for game preservation.
