Microsoft’s Xbox leadership is taking shape following the company’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Alan Hartman, former head of Turn 10, is now the new head of Xbox Game Studios, as per a LinkedIn post seen by Game Developer. Hartman, who has been leading Turn 10 since 2005, oversaw the release of Forza series games and the ForzaTech engine. He will be succeeding Matt Booty, who was promoted to president of gaming content and studios. Sarah Bond also recently became Xbox’s first black president in its 22-year history and will report directly to Microsoft Gaming president Phil Spencer. The $69 billion Activision Blizzard acquisition will likely bring more leadership changes as properties like Call of Duty and World of Warcraft now fall under Microsoft’s purview. Bobby Kotick will remain as CEO of Activision Blizzard but will step down at the end of 2023.
