Twitch has simplified its confusing guidelines on sexual content after a creator was able to appear seemingly topless in a stream. Following feedback, Twitch merged its sexual content policy sections and clarified that some previously prohibited materials are now allowed, as long as they’re properly labeled. Content that “deliberately highlight breasts, buttocks and pelvic region” when fully clothed is now allowed, as well as drawn, animated or sculpted female-presenting breasts, genitalia or buttocks that are fully exposed. Fictionalized sexual acts and masturbation are still prohibited, but videos showing writing on female-presenting breasts and buttocks, along with strip tease dances are now allowed. Dance moves like “twerking” and “grinding” can now be shown in videos without being labeled. Twitch has also changed its homepage algorithm to no longer recommend content with certain themes, requiring viewers to explicitly seek out videos with those themes.
