Microsoft, a traditional and sluggish giant, is integrating artificial intelligence into the core of Windows. After spending $13 billion on ChatGPT-maker OpenAI and acquiring a 49 percent stake, will AI ultimately improve its products? The company is declaring 2023 as the year of AI and is incorporating AI technology like Bing Chat and Copilot into its products such as Edge, Microsoft 365, Word, Powerpoint, and Windows 11. Despite imperfect AI interactions, the company has announced that it will further enhance Copilot using more powerful GPT-4 Turbo and Dall-E 3 models. Microsoft’s quick adoption of AI reflects the rapidly changing nature of the technology. Microsoft has recognized the need to keep up by upgrading its AI technology accordingly. Amazon Prime Video subscribers will be subject to “limited advertisements” with movies and shows starting on January 29th unless they agree to pay an additional $3 a month on top of their Prime subscription or $9-a-month Prime Video membership. On the other hand, Apple has appealed to the International Trade Commission (ITC) to reverse a ban on US sales of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2, requesting an emergency stay on the ban until a decision is reached regarding proposed redesigns of both smartwatch models. Finally, the fan-made Fallout: Londonmod built for Bethesda’s Fallout 4 is being officially released on April 23. The mod, described as a ‘DLC-sized mod’, takes place in a post-apocalyptic London and features iconic locations such as Big Ben, Shakespeare’s Globe, and Trafalgar Square.
