Japan is set to become a more popular destination for fans as Universal Studios has announced the opening of a Donkey Kong Country area in Spring 2024. Nintendo and Universal have not yet displayed actual footage of the new zone, but instead made the announcement with an animated trailer. The main attraction of the new area will be a ride called Mine Cart Madness, based on the 1994 SNES game Donkey Kong Country. Additionally, fans will have the opportunity to try a play experience that involves using their whole body, and food and merchandise will be available as well. The Donkey Kong Country area is currently under construction at Universal Studios Japan and is expected to expand the overall size of Super Nintendo World by 70 percent. The new area will open two years after visitors began exploring the park. The Orlando version of Super Nintendo World is not mentioned in the announcement.
