Rivian is currently offering a free wall charger and a $2,000 installation credit for the purchase of an electric pickup, just in time for the upcoming Tesla Cybertruck launch. This deal is specifically for the electric pickup and does not apply to the company’s R1S SUV. Known as the Home Charging Bundle, this offer will be available until the end of the year.
The wall charger will be shipped a few days after ordering the truck, saving buyers around $800. Additionally, the purchase automatically provides a credit with Rivian’s installation partner Qmerit, with installation costs ranging from $800 to $2,000, plus a $150 deposit to schedule a visit. Essentially, Rivian’s deal should make this installation free. It’s also important to note that buyers may be eligible for a $3,750 tax credit.
This enticing offer comes at a critical time, as Tesla Cybertruck deliveries are on the horizon. Tesla initially faced controversy over its stainless steel Cybertruck, including a plan to fine buyers $50,000 if they attempted to resell the vehicle too soon. After public outcry, Tesla revoked this policy. Rivian, on the other hand, has faced its own issues recently, including two recalls in less than a month and financial struggles. However, the company is expanding its production facilities in Georgia.
