Sonos Set to Launch Rivals to AirPods and Apple TV

Sonos plans to launch new products over the coming years. It will introduce high-end headphones, wireless earbuds, and a streaming box for TVs. The headphones would compete with Apple and Sony, while the streaming box will challenge Apple, Amazon, and Roku.

The headphones will be priced at over $400, similar to Sony’s $400 WH-1000MX5 but cheaper than Apple’s $549 AirPods Max. The streaming box will cost between $150 and $200, higher than its competitors.

Sonos has been working on headphones since 2019 and hopes these new products will boost sales. The company expects new products to make up a large portion of revenue by the second half of 2024.

The over-the-ear headphones are set to be released by April next year in black and white. They will sync with other Sonos speakers and allow voice navigation between songs. Sonos is also developing software for remote control of its equipment.

The streaming box is expected to launch by the end of 2024 or early 2025. It will run on an Android-based operating system and support streaming apps. Sonos is in talks with companies like Netflix and live television providers for support.

In addition to these, Sonos is also working on updated home theater equipment, including a new subwoofer, a second-generation Roam speaker, an updated Arc soundbar, and a high-end Era 100 speaker aimed at businesses. The updated Arc might cost $1,200, a significant increase from the current $900 model. The prices for the Era 100, Roam, and subwoofer are not yet known.
