Unveiling the Best of the Best at the Day of the Devs Game Awards Stream

Day of the Devs is an incredible showcase of promising indie games, regardless of publisher, genre, budget, visual style or release window. Curated by Double Fine and iam8bit, the event has been running for 11 years and the latest celebration wrapped up on December 6, featuring 20 independent projects.

The virtual show included world premieres and release date announcements, showcasing creativity and innovation in indie games. This is especially relevant as the definition of “indie” has been debated, particularly after The Game Awards nominated a game from a large studio as Best Independent Game. Day of the Devs feels particularly necessary in light of these debates.

Kind Words 2: lofi city pop is an expanded sequel to the original game, offering a whole city to explore and connect with others. Loose Leaf is a tea-drinking and tarot-reading experience from the creators of Boyfriend Dungeon. The Mermaid’s Tongue is a murder mystery game from the team behind Snipperclips and Tangle Tower. Nirvana Noir is the sequel to Genesis Noir, offering a jazzy, psychedelic twist on the series.

Flock, a charming and cozy game, is set to release in spring 2024, while Open Roads, featuring actors Keri Russel and Kaitlyn Dever, is set to release on February 22, 2024. Cryptmaster, Drag Her!, Holstin, Home Safety Hotline, and Militsioner are also upcoming indie games to watch out for.
