X CEO Linda Yaccarino responded to a report from a watchdog group that resulted in a significant advertiser pullout by calling it “misleading and manipulated” in a note to X employees. Yaccarino stated that the data will reveal the true story behind the situation and emphasized the company’s efforts to combat antisemitism and discrimination. She also framed the issue as a matter of free speech, aligning herself with X owner Elon Musk’s emphasis on the importance of free speech on the platform. Advertisers, including major companies such as IBM, Apple, Disney, and others, pulled their ads from X after reports that their ads were running alongside pro-Nazi content on the website. The move came shortly after Musk publicly endorsed an antisemitic conspiracy theory, drawing widespread criticism, including a rebuke from the White House. Musk threatened to file a lawsuit against the watchdog group, but as of Monday afternoon, no lawsuit had been filed. Yaccarino has faced pressure to resign as X CEO, but she has remained steadfast in her support of Musk, and thanked those who have stood by the company. A link to Yaccarino’s X post was provided in response to a request for comment.
