The Framework x Cooler Master Mainboard Case is the next step in Framework’s mission to end the need for users to toss out a perfectly good machine when just one component goes dead. For $39, users can put their existing Framework mainboard into a cool-looking plastic frame with a kickstand, VESA mount screws, and not much else. The flexible case allows users to select compatible spare components to build their system. However, the plastic case’s build quality is flimsy, and some components may not fit properly, making the setup process challenging. Additionally, setting the mainboard into Standalone mode is not clearly explained in the guides. Once set up, the case provides a streamlined experience, with the ability to stream 4K video without issue. Ultimately, the case aims to make these projects accessible to those who may lack the technical expertise to do it themselves.
